Day 41. Sleek Make Up Sunset palette [review & swatches]

Quick review and swatches of one of my favorite palettes from Sleek MakeUp, the iDivine Sunset palette.

More swatches after the jump!

The Sleek iDivine Sunset palette is a permanent eyeshadow palette with twelve fantastic colors, obviously inspired by the a summertime sunset.

As usual with the iDivine palettes, the eyeshadows are pigmented and with a buttery texture, if a bit powdery. Most apply easily and beautifully, but a few shades are quite patchy, because of the soft texture. In my opinion, all these eyeshadow works better if used with a primer or a base: they improve both in pigmentation and in ease of application.

The first two color from the left are a matte black (same black present in all the Sleek palette) and a slightly shimmery dark reddish brown shade. The black color definitely can use the help of a primer; the reddish brown shade is intense even without a primer, but with it the color is more opaque, even and intense.

Next are two brownish reds. While the first is more red toned than brown (at times it almost looks burgundy), for the second it's the opposite, more brown toned than red. Also, the second shade has more shimmer than the first.

The third row is all about earth tones:  two shimmery browns, respectively with hints of red and yellow/orange. They both come out better in terms of pigmentation when applied with a primer.

The next two color are an intense orange with a slight golden shimmer, and a bronzy brown with a distinct gold shimmer. The orange shade may be defined as a demi-matte, since the shimmer is so subtle. The bronzy brown shade is the one shade in the palette that applies patchily both with and without primer, even if the application with primer is easier and has less fall out.

Next we have a metallic golden yellow and a neutral cool toned beige-y pink. The golden yellow needs to be applied with a primer for the color to be intense and even. The second color appears a pinky beige in the pan but it's a fantastic neutral pink shade perfectly suited for a neutral day eye look.

The last two eye shadows in this palette are an intense satin blue shade and a baby pink shade. The blue color applies well both with and without primer. The pink is definitely pink this time, but it is subtle enough that it can be used to give a wash of color to the lid if you need to appear awake without being overly made up.

Overall I think this is a fantastic palette, definitely good value for money (about 10€/10$). The earth tones (the reds and the browns) can be used both in summer and in winter because they can work as neutrals, while the bright shades (blue, orange, gold) are an accent of colors for special days and are particularly suited for summer looks!

The Sleek iDivine Sunset palette is a must-have if you love intense eyeshadows and want a versatile choice of color at hand.
